Hi guys,

My current setup is Schiit Modi+Bottlehead Crack
My computer is i5-3570k + ASUS P8Z77 PRO

The humming/static noise are pretty bad on my system.

I believe the noise is either the DAC or ground loop related issue since if I disconnect the DAC and only use the Crack I don't hear any noise. When I scroll down a website page or just use my mouse/keyboard in general the noise amplifies...

Could anyone help me with this issue? Do I need to buy a USB Isolator?

That's the good ole ground loop.  Causes hum, static, popping and crackling (especially with otl amps).  I have remedied the situation various times with a usb to spdif converter, however I believe the modi is usb input only.  So no dice there.

Folks have used cheater plugs to lift the ground to avoid the issue (I cannot confirm or deny this since I have never used one).  Safety precautions should always be followed though.

Cheers!
