I have a Harmon kardon avr and just started to use the phone jack. There is a humming in the background it's bad enough that in a quite ( I mean just above a whisper ) part of a song it's hard to make out what's being sung or anything else. I have tried 2 sets of headphone both the same hum. Is this what you get through a receiver or I have something up with it?
Any thoughts thanks

You should not hear a hum. What specific headphones are you using? Do you have the receiver plugged into a grounded outlet? Is it plugged into a power strip or directly into the wall? Do you hear the hum from speakers attached to the receiver, or only from the headphones?

OK DT990 250 ohms, grounded power strip, at full volume maybe just a hit out of speakers and when I mute hum stops.

Thanks
Just tried plugging into wall and may have done the trick.
Nope spoke to quick it's still there.
