I've searched for this answer but haven't been able to locate it.  Has anyone tried the new HRT MusicStreamer II USB DAC with their headphones plugged directly into the RCA outs of the DAC?

I'm using it right now with my Grado SR60i headphones right now and it sounds pretty good using my Mac Mini with iTunes.  I realize that I'm losing some bits by using the volume in iTunes below the max level for attenuation.

I also have a uDAC2 HP and I find the HRT is smoother sounding and more dynamic, even though the uDAC2 HP contains both a DAC and headphone amp.

Since its just a DAC, its just sending a line level signal out of the RCA jacks, which ideally would be plugged into an amp. not really an ideal setup

I got a PM from someone saying that the HD 650's could be powered fine with just this DAC, I tried it and was not impressed. Get an amp, if only a cheap one.

I'm with the others - for the price of the Fiio E9, why put yourself through this sort of lollygaggery ?
