Did you try both?

I wouldn't have said so if I hadn't. IMO the modi multibit is superior to the music streamer HD, meridian director/direct dac, ifi idac2 (horrible) and something else I'm forgetting. The modi multibit is better than all of them.

I haven't heard the bifrost. From impressions some people like it more, others apparently can't distinguish between the two well. The modi multibit is really incredible at size/price.

I guess the Modi MB competes with the Yggy if it can with the bitfrost. I use iTunes music only so doesn’t make sense to pay more than the Modi.

There's some difference between my mimby and my new 2qute...but not the $950 I spent. Granted I only run Spotify at 320....but still. The mimby is incredible. Especially through toslink (cleaner than USB).

Schiit Modi Multibit needs a good and clean signalfeed as the USB receiver is below average, unlike the new Schiit dacs with unison usb receiver. I find for example Hrt Music Streamer II superior to Mumby if fed from a noisy computer usb output, but if fed from a high quality streamer via USB the Schiit Modi Modi Multibit is better than the Hrt MSII.

No natural qualities whatsoever. Exceptionally digital sounding. On the plus side, it did have a black background.

Although personally I wouldn't describe iDAC2's sound as digital, I of course respect your opinion and thanks for sharing!

Can somebody share HRT MS II+ latest 2.4 firmware?
Mine MS II+ is 1.8 and it have dropouts with latest iMacs.

Talking hrt.
I have a microstreamer that I had left a maybe 3 years packed away,and just got it out again to try with my beyer dt700 x pro.Have to say the sound quality is still good.Comparing it against my dragonfly cobalt,actually prefer the hrt lol.
