Am I going crazy or did something in the 2.4 firmware (from this month) change the sound quality for the better? Specifically, I feel that instrument separation improved dramatically. I've loaded every other firmware as they have been released and never noted an actual improvement in quality until now. (Not that the quality was bad before at all).

most likely just a slight increase in volume. do an SPL-matched comparison with old vs new firmware and if you still can tell a definite difference then it might be something else.
