Hello boys. As I am experimenting with HQPlayer, comparing it to Foobar and upsampling DSD512 (... to the limit of my computer ... :scream: ), I notice that HQP has a more liquid, brighter sound and Foobar has a darker, heavier sound , thicker. So, in the face of the terrifying multiconfiguration of HQP filters, could one of you please tell me which you think are the most suitable filters in search of a thicker, fuller, darker sound in this impressive HQP ...? Thanks for your opinion. Greetings to everyone from Spain ....:relaxed:

I am not familiar with the naming terminology used in hqplayer but I'd suggest you to try some filters that have minimal or no pre ring. I can't say it'll make it darker/brighter, but it'll make the sound "denser".

Fig 11.2 minimum phase filter is an example.

You can also take reference from the warm filter in chord Hugo/qutest.

And one more thing, the brightness you hear might also be caused by digital noise coming out through the usb bus. I'd recommend you to try PlayPCMWin or Hysolid and see if you get that high frequency haze free sound you're after. These players don't have any oversamplers in them but if you can hear that haze free sound I'd recommend you to set up an ethernet based network streamer using a raspberry Pi or something so your pc can do the number crunching while Pi serves cleaner signal to the dac.
