How's this for a new computer of mine?

Expect Q4 2005 (July 31 2005).

It's 1 year away. That's why they will be coming out with a 3.8E / 478.

Check for news August 22, 2004.

Jeezzz, a year to gain 600 mhz???????????? what happened to all the speed bump a couple years ago?

Well, it's sad but true: Intel has been having all sorts of problems with their own products lately.

First, they've had significant trouble controlling the current leakage from their Prescott-core CPUs, causing them to run a lot hotter than they should have (even with the most elaborate, most high-performance cooler).

Second, they've cancelled the Tejas project (which would have been the next-generation P4 CPU), making the current Prescott core the end of the P4 line. (The Pentium-M CPUs, even the new Dothan core models, lack even SSE2 support, let alone SSE3 - because they are built on modified PIII technology; thus, any program that requires SSE2 support or is optimised for SSE2 either won't run at all or will run poorly on the Pentium-M-based systems, which Intel has chosen for its next CPU generation.)

The worst part about this is that the 925X chipset falls much short of the hype in terms of performance - in fact, it performs slower in most tests (with DDR2-533 memory and the fastest available PCI-e videocard) than even an E-series Socket 478-based P4 system with regular DDR400 dual-channel memory and the fastest available AGP 8x videocard on an 875P chipset.

Damn, i really want an Intel set up next, the AMD64 might be good for games, but Intel always have the advantage when it comes of general desktop applications and Video encoding, due to it's larger cache size and Faster FSB, i can handle the 2fps drop in Doom 3 by getting an intel, but in my opinion, a Intel always be a better all round cpu.

I really hope they fix this prescott heat issue beacuse i dont really want to go into watercooling !
