How to test if i'm listening too loud
Nov 30, 2014 at 7:44 AM Post #2 of 3
When you cant hear any outside surrounding sounds and when later going to sleep you start hearing high pitch or music/sound retention that you heard early with iem etc.

Yeah, I've high pitch tinnitus now after years of listening (each days 10+ hours) to walkmans/Minidiscs/mp3 players even at moderate volume. (better take at least 10min. silent breaks after each hour of listening)
So enjoy now suffer later your choice.

My ears send me signals, sort of a crackling sound, like I'm in an airplane gaining or losing altitude.

Damage is a factor of both volume and session time. For example, you could listen to 110 dB for an hour, and incur less damage than 100 dB for 4 hours. If you think your headphones are too loud, they probably are.

I am lucky that my hearing is still OK after many years of listening, but I always listen to batches of one album side or CD, with break time in between as cdsa35000 suggested.
