Im trying to convice my mom to let me buy 100+ headphones without flipping. The only reason she hasnt found out yet is cause the HD580's were given to me by father for my B-Day and they stay at his house most of the time cause his setup is better and my MS1's stay upstairs in my room where my mom doesnt go often. But I wanna get it off my chest so how should I tell her?

Forget about the $100 headphones. Does she know about this line from your sig?

"Total Spent Since Joining Head-Fi=$924"

hmm, id tell her you have good ears, and cant stand crappy sound 8D

well. that didnt even work with my dad, at all. hed rather have me pay rent, but that doesnt make sense to me, hes letting me stay here so ic an save up to move, and i only plan on buying a few choice things before i have enough to move.

DT440's and a Hornet, as well as the addition of a nice quality interlink for portability, after my move ill start spending bigger, I PROMISE!

I have to agree with that... well... the price that I told my mom about my rig.... is around 1/5 of my total spent... but just that worries her, not to a point that pisses her off, but worries her...

I would shock her with something like:

"Mom, can I ask you something?"
"Of course dear, you can ask me anything."
"How much do drugs cost?"
"They're very expensive. Thousands and thousands of dollars and people ruin their lives over drugs...why do you ask?"
"A stranger offered me free meth and said it was only $20 a hit afterwards"
"What?! Who? Where? What did you do?"
"A stranger when I went to 7-11. I told him no."
"That's great. You did the right thing. I'm so proud of you."
"Can I get a new set of headphones?"
"Of course you can...anything you want."

Basically my way always consists of this.

"OMG so much money stop buying audio stuff!"
-"Its cheaper then all the weed you smoked in the 70s ma"

"OMG so much money stop spending on audio!"
-"Its cheaper then buying all the new game systems"

"Omg so much blah blag ba"
-"Shutup ma"

*looks at people who own K1000's, GS-1000's, Orpheuses, Stax Omega II's, and the like*
*not in a condemnatory manner, though*

Yeah but the 924 ive spent is all retail prices since I forget since I didnt save the papers from ebay. I know dont call me stupid cause I know it was so its all retail prices and some of the stuff given to me so it isnt 100% accurate. Also everything I have purchased was from and delivered to my dads so my mom doesnt know about it.

The simplest solution; let her listen to them.

Who knows, we may have a new head-fi member in the future

(Sorry for the cheap turntables)
Then me bringing home some 15" subs.. All tallying around 2 grand.. My dad couldnt be any more proud that I worked so hard for something I love rather then spending it on stuipid games or whatnot

x2

i never actually told my mum that i was into headphones. i just talk about hi-fi audio with my dad and i think she gets that i am into high end audio. or i just show her what i bought or she just sees the delivery when they arrive here. and my mom sometimes goes here in my room so she sees them hehe.
