I use Xilisoft DVD Audio Ripper to rip audio from my DVDs. You can rip the audio to MP3 and Wav.

Here's what I did.

1. rip dvd .vob file with DVD Shrink or SmartRipper to unprotected file

2. extract ac3 audio stream from .vob with virtualdubmod: open vob file, select streams, click ac3 stream in pop up box, click demux & name it.

3. convert ac3 to wav with azid:
eg. D:\azid\azid.exe "D:\1.ac3" "D:\1.wav"

4. downsample wav from 48000Hz to 44100Hz with ssrc
eg. D:\ssrc --rate 44100 "D:\1.wav" "D:\1cd.wav"

you now have a 44.1kHz wav file which you can use for your cd player.

5. Lame is good for mp3 encoding.
