Does anyone have tips for removing the model ring on Grado headphones? By this I mean the plastic ring that says Prestige Series? I want to modify this portion of the headphones...

I took it off a friends SR-60. I used some fine tipped tweazers and a Exacto-Blade. Heat up the outer cup with hot water or a blow dryer and lightly pry it up. Be gentle as is may break if you apply too much force. I don't know if this works on newer models though.

Sure thing. I'm thinking about sanding and then spray painting it. Optimally, I'd like to have someone familiar mill one out of aluminum or something, that would just look really sexy.

Copying the SR-325is? It would give them a 325is like sound sig.

Even better get the cups bronzed. They would look awesome that way!

ideally you should use boiling water for the metal 325's. don't know about the plastics, they might be moulded on.

I removed the plastic ring from my 325i with the boiling water method but that might be dangerous with all plastic cups??

Get plastic cups bronzed? Meh. I'd want to do something unique.

Yeah I understand. Bronzed cups do sound cool though. Keep us updated on this if you can. I'd be interested in picking up some metal cups for my SR-225i if you found somebody to make them.

I don't have money for any sort of milling to be done, but I'd post something on Craigslist as my first bet if I wanted to do that sort of thing. If I pick up another pair of cups somewhere, though, I might bronze them or something.

EDIT: Any suggestions on what do with the ring?
