ok so there are a few possibilities here...someone pointed out that the cd may not even be copy protected which means this all could be a red herring of some other problem (malconfigured EAC or faulty drive)...just to make sure grab a cd from your collection you are sure is clean (no scratches and whatnot) and does not have copy protection...make sure you can rip that

report back if you can rip such a cd or not, and we'll isolate the problem from there.

edit>>i just reread your post where you said the second disc works...so i guess that settles that issue...is the data side of the cd flawed in any way? sometimes when a cd is manufactured there can be flaws (often they look like tiny little bubbles) on the data side of the disc. it could be you have such a bubble that your cdrom drive can't handle but your cd player doesn't mind

Thanks for your replies. I play the cd on my friend's laptop, and it plays... Looks like my cdrom is dying from age.
