Hi guys,

Pls forgive me for asking, but how does one input CD player as a source with L&R Rca's output to a headphone amp with 1/8 mini jack ?
Will this work & not overload input of the headphone amp ?

Thanks for the reply.

Hi,
All the previous suggestions are very good, even if some are a little expensive!
I found these cables on ebay and the sellers are great. I bought a couple of cables, had a small problem, and they sent me two more cables free! Incredible customer service. These iCables might not be the very best but the sound is excellent as far as my ears can tell and they have a nice tech-flex covering. They were selling for $45 here in Canada! The price is hard to beat and the connectors are great. Tight at first, but that's better than loose!

Yes, you should put money where it will make the most difference first, headphones, amps, and source but cables do make a difference.

I tried some Monster interconnects in my system when they were in the bargin bin at a local store. I ended up putting them in the dumpster as I perferred even generic ICs.

For some cheap interconnects try avcable.com

Audio Stereo Cable: AVCable.com

Or even cheaper

Calrad 35-557: AVCable.com
3' Dual RCA to RCA stereo audio cable: AVCable.com

Those two will run you $3.64 plus shipping

There are literally thousands of different brands. If you want something made by a head-fier there are a few who make their own cables such as [AK]Zip APureSound - Where The Music Is Always Pure

swt61 really likes cables made by Fitz. Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Profile: Fitz

I purchased the Kimber Kable RCA-mini from Headroom a couple years ago and I've enjoyed it since. Keep in mind though what you like in your system will likely be different than what I like in mine.

It will work fine, I'm more worried about what type of amp and headphones you are using. see link

If ever RSA Hornet Or the Predator.

Headphone would be the Ultimate Ears .5 Pro

CD player would be Cambridge Audio 540

There are more options too but I don't feel the need to go on.

Hi plaid,

I might go for headphones in the likes of Grado , Sennheiser.

Regards

If you go for cans, do you need a portable amp? Most home amps have rca inputs. If you want canal phones or IEM then the Tomahawk is said to be the way to go as it ws designed to mate with these. If you need a portable and want cans, check out the Predator from Ray. It has a USB DAC as well to hook up to your computer. But if you buy cans and don't care about mobility, there are tons of headamp options!

I would suggest custom ordering a cable from Blue Jeans Cable.

You can send an e-mail to them (Alan) and specify what you need, but you probably will get a recommendation for Belden BJC MSA-1 cable with Canare F16 RCA connectors and a Canare F12 mini connector. I got a recent quote of $25 (plus $2 per foot of cable length), and considering the materials used, is probably a better cable than what you could buy for the same money elsewhere.

The level of customer service at Blue Jeans Cable, in my experience, has been absolutely first rate.
