How to get stereo on a plane?

As everyone knows they've got that 'double' socket on the planes, obviously one for each channel. So is there any way to get stereo for the cans you carry with you? With some kind of a 'converter' perhaps?

As you can see, I'm not quite knowledgeble on the subject, so some advice would be appreciated.

Yes, just go down to Radio Shack and get their "airplane adapter". It converts the double socket to a single regular 1/8th inch headphone socket. (Also, some airlines have stopped using the double sockets, so you may not need an adapter. e.g. KLM has been replacing all their double sockets with regular ones.)

From what I have seen American and United also have the single plugs on their airplanes. Another thing that is unknown to most people is that they have installed power underneath the seats. If you have the adapter you can run your stuff and save the batteries. I really like this on longer flights, I bring DVDs and watch them on my laptop.
