How to get rid of a ground loop hum?
Jul 19, 2007 at 6:12 AM Post #16 of 18
I live in an apartment and cant run it to the ground rod in a breaker box. I've tried the wire to a screw before and while it did improve it it didn't get rid of it completely. I will maybe get the ground loop isoaltor tomorrow and post back if it fixed it. At this point I see it as my only posible way to get rid of the hum. Or maybe an electronics technician could fix it.

If you have an extra, cheap RCA cable laying around, clip the outer shell off of the plug so only the pin can ever make contact at the jack and see if that works.

The top one I can buy at the store tomorrow but the bottom one is a web order only.

Assuming your cable comes in from coax, just spend the money and get the Jensen VRD-1FF:

There was no Canadian supplier when I ordered mine a few years ago from Markertek, but that could have changed.
