I just recieved my sennheiser 238HD Precision and I like the phones, but I am very very worried about the thin cord (the cord is the reason my 100's broke)
 
I am thinking about taping the whole cord but I am worried about any ramifications this many have on the wires, does anyone have any suggestions?

Replace the cable? Perhaps something thicker. I own the 238 too and the cable is thin, But it is very strong. 
 
I had the headphone around my neck while the plug was in my pc. I stood up and walked away. Almost falling, and breaking my pc Headphone Out. Nothing wrong with the cable.
 
So it can take a punch. But still be carefull with the cable. My case could be exceptional.

It seems very thin to me, like it could get cut by anything... how much would 'recabling' cost?

I got 2 pairs for 30$ each so I don't want to spend a lot of money on recabling, but if it makes the cables a lot thicker than it may be worth it

If you DIY it, you can get it done for maybe $20 - $30. Of course, if you choose better materials the price can rise quickly.

Does anyone know if electric tape (wrapped around) would damage the wires?
