Usually, I check new albums at amg.com, I prefer Editor`s Choice as it has 4-5 stars new albums, but often there are some artists missed from that list,

Do you have any special blog for checking new releases except the local store?

Pitchfork is my favorite. They can be pretentious and annoying, and you pretty much have to check out anything between 6.5 and 8 on your own to see if you like it, but they nail great albums. If pitchfork gives an album more than an 8, there is a very good chance that I will like it.

Yeah. Forgot to mention that. They only really do indie stuff.

allmusic.com is my fave.
However, I use their reviews once ive found new music on Amazon/CDNOW. Reading the "Listmania" and "So You'd Like To..." lists can be incredibly insightful if you are trying to find artists that are similar to or in the same genre as the ones you already like/know.

Thanks guys,
I really like Indi Rock, Built to Spill is one of my favorites and I can hear for some minutes to Animal Collective, but
people at Pitchfork are kind of racist, a score of 4.9 to the latest Oasis??!!
Maybe I'll stick with AMG.

Yeah, maybe not the right expression,
It seems that there is less criticism on US bands, some kind of nationality..

This is based on what? Them (rightfully, in my opinion) giving recent Oasis albums low scores? I haven't noticed any kind of trend in their reviews involving nationality. Pitchfork certainly has their pretentious and annoying tendencies, but nationality has never struck me as an issue. Are there more examples you're thinking of?

This was an opinion based on some reviews, but I can be wrong,
however, lets forget about U2 and Cold Play, but if you speak of indi, first band that come in mind is Arctic Monkeys, and you should pretend at least 8, no way..
Maybe its more with UK bands than with all non US.

Pitchfork usually gives great reviews to stuff I love, but you have to be wary because a lot of times they can be harsh. I absolutely love The Decemberists new album "The Hazards of Love" and pitchfork canned it, and I loved the Airborne Toxic Event and pitchfork gave it like a 2 lol. Although they did make Fleet Foxes #1 of 2008, so thats a plus.

I usually check out the ratings on Spin, Rolling Stone or Amazon when I am looking at picking something up. I don't buy a lot of cd's new, I try to get used since I'm a poor student so I have some time to mull over my choices.

Here are some good indie sites to check out and get new stuff. Watch out though you may fall in love with a band that is from some other country and the cd is a $20 import. I found this great band from Sweden called First Aid Kit, but I have to import the cd.
