damn, how come the White 60GB cost $640...

Is it my impression, or bluetin is raising it prices? They already raised the price of Denon AH-C700. I don't like it.

The $640 looks to be some special limited edition with gold plating.

The HD60GD9EC (the white one) is limited and exclusive to Kenwood's site. The regular HD60GD9 is black and not limited edition.
Buying the EC in Japan - which these people have to do - including Japanese taxes about $550 give or take. So the $640 represents about a 14% markup. Not completely outrageous considering they are providing a service, but it's up to you to determine if you want to pay that.
It's not like most of us could order direct from Kenwood in Japan ...

If you want the EC version, I suggest you buy one now. I asked bluetin and they told me that they have some extras, but they're all sold out on the EC direct site.

wonder why they went with 60gb 1.8" instead of going to the 160gb 1.8" drive now. that and the ability to play FLAC would make this just about the ultimate music keg FOR REAL!
