How the heck do I *permanently* delete songs from an Android phone?

I have been in the process of FLACing the crap out of all my CDs and dumping any of the old MP3s. I copy the FLAC files over to the SD card on my phone (a Motorola phone running Android 13) and delete the MP3s.

And I swear to God the MP3s go away for awhile, but show up again.

I am using the Fiio music player if that matters.

It's driving me crazy, It's driving me nuts.

You're deleting them using your computer file manager when the phone is mounted?

No. From the Fiio music player app on my phone.

Try it from a computer. Sort by file extension and you'll see all the mp3, m4a, etc.

Maybe the FiiO app doesn't have write permission or maybe something like Google Drive is syncing all the files back.
