How similiar do the portapro's and hd485's sound to each other? Are they close or in different ballparks?

I prefer the Portapro. In spite of it's often quoted bloated bass, it has less bloat than the 485. Actually, the 485 is a very rich sounding headphone that reminds me of the gramaphone players of old. It's warm sounding. The Portapro actually sounds a little more clinical beside it, and it's so much smaller too.

They are aimed at different markets. Porta (ble) for portable use. I wouldn't walk around streets personally with a 485 on my head.
