how often with pretty much avereage use, should I buy new velvet ear pads for my sennheisser HD 600's? they claim the pads should be replaced on a regualr basis for hiegene reasons... Im not sure if its cause I store them in the basement, but I bought mine in may, and I recenltly noticed if I had them in the box for a while and take them out it smells a little...

any ideas on if its any important that I change the pads?

Maybe you can clean the pads with some mild detergent and a cloth.

New pads can be pricey, 26 bucks for the pair.

I'd say replace them in 2 years or so.

I changed mine after 6.5 years on my 580s. They were pretty flat and gross. After you replace them, you'll have to go through another break-in cycle for a week or so, but the headphones look and feel like new!

actually that smell I was talking about was not my headphones... it was a glass of sour milk, sorry if I mislead anyone. yeah I didnt expect the velvet pads to run out after only like 4 months

Personally, I'd just say whenever they are too gross to look at...

My HD565 pads lasted me from 1994 until 2 months ago... they were seriously squished, but were still ok... but... if you share them around a lot, maybe quite a quick turnaround... just to keep them fresh looking

Does anyone know where can I get some pads for the 580s? Mine are 3 years old, they still look like new, but I would like to stock on them while I can.

You can probably get them at the sennheiser website. They stock most of the stuff you need to fix their headphones.

Heck, the Sennheiser USA website even has enough parts to assemble your own HD580's

Though it becomes very expensive then.

fjhuerta,

I got my replacement parts from the Sennheiser USA website. They're very quick, and easy to deal with. Seeing as you are in Mexico, I don't know how that will affect their service.

Thanks Andre! I'll have the pieces sent to a friend in New Jersey, that'll help a lot!
