You mean on the cups? I can't put my hands on the cups when using open-headphone because they will sound very hollow or weird (especially Grados). I cannot put my hands on the cups even if I use my closed-headphones because they are all woodies and I don't want my finger prints/oil on them
It depends on the type of headphone. I once put my hand on my Grado GS-1000, it became a totally different beast, much louder and no more soundstage...
But I guess for close cup, it's just ok, it must give you the same effect as toe-tapping

It's even worse with Grado 325is. Lightweight plastic/leather headband + heavy cups + momentum = flying Grados.
