Hello....

I just got a AE-2 amp to use with my AKG K701. I connect the AE-2 in a sony stereo mini hifi system.
I wanted to ask what is better...to lower the volume of the stereo and use the ae-2 to get the volume to the desired lever or have the stereo's volume at a normal listening level and use the ae-2 to bring the volume to the desired level?

I've mostly seen recommendations to turn the volume at the source up higher, but in my own experience I've gotten much better sound quality by running the headphone amp mostly wide open and using just enough volume at the source to achieve the desired listening level. YMMV.
