how much electronic noise does a big magnet make?(a pump)

well, i don't have any figures, but i can tell you that even with my Swiftech pump and 12v mini power supply literally touching my sound card, i hear absolutely no noise from the line-out of my sound card. of course, it can change when i plug in the amp (once it gets here).

I assume it's some sort of mechanical pump, so that the frequency is ~100 Hz or so? In any case, unless it's oscillating at ~MHz or more there's no way it's going to affect anything. There isn't any circuit there with enough area to make the flux non-neglible (the calculation is pretty straightforward; you can do it yourself). I would worry more about electrical noise from the power supply.

edit: I'm assuming that what you mean by a big magnet is, in actuality, pretty small. I doubt you could get somethnig I would consider a big magnet into some sort of computer equipment. I've seen 1 T magnets as small as ~1 cm, but you don't use those in pumps
