how much do you pay for your auto insurance?

Like $1300/yr. It's a VW GTI and my last car was totaled in an accident that, on paper, is officially my fault (although the six police officers who came to the scene didn't decide to cite me for anything).

Age has a lot to do with it - if you're young, it's going to cost more. period.

I actually get some sort of discount because my house is insured by the same company, too.

What are you trying to insure?

Male, 26, no accidents or points on record. ~ $1200/year for comprehensive/collision coverage on an '09 WRX. Oh yeah, Texas resident.

Highway Loss Data Institute has the WRX ranked #1 on the highest losses list. Apparently buyers seem to have this nasty tendency of getting into accidents with them. The 350Z is #8.

Your agent is a profit-seeking entity. Try fielding some competing quotes.
