Just as the post says. I never had any problem with my original cable and it still looks the same as day one.
Heard and read a lot about people complaining. I got worried at first but now I could say my cable is perfect with no problem.

Do you belong this exclusive club?

To minimize stain on the cable, I rock my fingers back and forth while compressing the black foams. The ear piece doesn't get rocked which reduces flexing of the cable. I've used my E500s for 2.5 years on a mostly daily basis without problem.

I've had 2 pairs of E500's replaced, now on a 2008 version of the SE530 and it's holding up.

It probably depends entirely on the batch and whether or not the cable was reformulated.

I've had mine for over a couple of years now. No problem of what so ever.

Not far off 2 years and no problems yet. Although the dog hasn't got to this pair yet.
