If you count the headphones I have in current rotation, I have 6. But I also have at least 4 that are still around but not in use.

do you think people are actually using all of the headphones (eg. if someone has 6 pairs for example), or they mainly stick with one particular one ?

im getting 2 new pairs on the way, but sometimes i wonder, will i ever use both of them regularly, or i will be glued to one in particular, thus wasting my money by buying the other one that i use less ?

I rotate mine all the time bassed on the listening environment and what I am listening to. For example, I really like the level of detail the 590's offer when listening to DVD-A, but on then when It comes to computer listening, over long periods of time, I use my 280's since they are less fatiguing and offer isolation so I don't have to hear my computer fans or my typing for that matter. My SR60's just have a flavor that I enjoy at other times and they work great portably if you are carrying a backpack and don't mind that they leak. For portable situations, I generally use my PX200's but there are times when the PX100 or MX500 is a better choice...

dj_m: Well, my collection is spread over three places, and some phones are defunct in some way (loose headband mechanisms, crackling drivers...), while others are only kept for reference purposes (although I didn't like the sound that much from the start or although these now sound outdated to my ears) - so in fact I only have a few phones in regular use, dependant of mood and application...
