Well I'm sure that someone on here has a bigger collection... but its not the size that counts.

I would say that I have around 150-200 and my wife has around 200-250. But that is just a guess. I will be able to give a better approximation tonight when I get home.

I think somewhere around 500 to 1000... haven't counted them recently. haven't been buying that many recently either so the number hasn't changed much for some time.

Size always counts!
But size and technique together, that's an unbeatable combination.

I lost count a few years ago at around 2500. On top of that, about 1200 vinyl LPs of mostly jazz and classical, and some rock and pop. I think it's time to clear out some of those CDs......CD swap anyone?

It's all about the pleasure you can achieve.

I would say my collection is somewhere between 600-800 discs, not including the 129 SACDs I have (I counted the other day).

I'm not sure, but i've riped about 1/2 of it and put it on my iPod.

Currently I have 4,003 tracks on it.

People still use CDs?

Okay I keed, but seriously CDs as an indicator for a music collection may not be any more accurate than a LP count at this point.

That was before I got enlightened and found out the "Best Sound Forever" marketing ploy by the music industry was nothing more than a scam. Now I collect mostly vinyl, but do buy CDs here and there on music that are not availabe on LPs.

Hm - hard to tell...
Last time I counted (around 5 years ago) there were already more than 2500. So I guess it would be something between 3000 and 4000. And yes, I know that I'm past cure.

I use Collectorz Music Collector to catalog my stuff so this one is easy to track:

491 CD
343 LP
38 MD
23 SACD

I organize my collection in MSAccess, and the CD title figure is cited above. With boxed sets I guess the number would be about 20% higher. It sounds like a lot, but I've been collection for 20 years and have yet to wear out a disc.

I'd be curious to know how other people organize and index large CD/record collections. I'm sure there's a thread or two on the topic if I wanted to do a search.

This isn't a bad idea. I mean, I have shelves full of CD's i should take the time and post up and ask folk if they have something that might interest me in a CD swap. Anyone for Jimmy Somerville's CD Single "Heartbeat?"
