I have my HD650 between 12:00 to 12:30 depend on CD. When I had RS-1, I set on 1:00 to 1:30.

All my reviews were done at 12:00 fixed.

Just make sure I am not the only one going to get hearing aid. My hearing aid better be tube powerd, balanced, have silver wiring and silver solder.

Most amps I'm parked at the 12 position. With my LDI+, I blast my Grado's past that mark sometimes, but I think that has to do with the toe-tapping affliction you get from using Grado's.

My Stax amp (SRM-007tII) feeding the O2 Mk2 is likewise parked at 12. My PHI-26, a much more advanced amp with 30dB of preamp gain alone, seldom goes past 9. Even when feeding Stax adapter boxes or low impedance dynamic phones. A friend with a PHI-26 says 12 through his Senns would make him deaf.

My Signature 30.2 is set to around 9:00 (step 3-4) when using with a K1000.
While the β22 tend to be set higher, to around 11:00-12:00.

Your Signature 30.2 got some power! Or you just do not listen loud?

I can't hear phone calls or other people talking when I listen to my HD650 with WA22 if they are not right next to me.

Don't you damage your hearing by listening that loud for a long period of time?

I usually listen at 10, and i can usually hear if someone else especially when I am using the open can like Senn.

A mix of both I assume.
1) the Signature 30.2 is rated at 2 x 30 Watts RMS into 8-ohms (hence the 30.2)
2) and the listening volume is so low that I hear myself write on the keyboard in front of me.

I listened to my WA22 from 10 to 12 o'clock for pretty much all of my music. There are some times when I have to turn it to 1 or even 3 o'clock, but it varies from song to song. I think there has only been one song where I had to turn it to 3 o'clock.

Using my HeadRoom Micro and AKG K 701s, it's usually in the 9-10 o'clock position (with the lowest gain). I only ever go higher on quiet games but I don't think I've ever gone to the 12 o'clock position.

with the 6EW7's I'm using in my WA6, my volume control runs between 11 and 2 o'clock depending on the CD I'm listening to. When I had 6FD7's installed, I ran it between 9 and 12 o'clock

I listen to music 2~3 hours a time with headphone. With speaker often longer because I don't have to just sit in one spot. I do play game for 5 hours straight on weekend night but not as loud.

I get my hearing tested every year for work, it stays the same so far.

I need turn mine up to "feel" the music.

That is interesting.

When I was feeding the WA22 with the 4vrms xlr outs from the Lavry D11 (42,+10db) there was no reason to crack even 11 o'clock. Only the K430 twisted the knob past midnight. I was basically using two amps: discrete solid state & tube space heater. The resulting sound was indistinguishable from the DACs, which is what should happen, unless you wanna push your tubes to color the sound

The Lavry D11 can provide a virtually gain free signal to feet to my WA22 (volume level 22 on DAC) and this is where things get interesting. A balanced K701 I was on the verge of selling for its one-trick pony sound, a large soundstage coupled with precise positioning.

I gave it a shot with the WA22. It was... ok, same, really. Then I set the Lavry to 32 and turned the Woo to "HI". Going back to listening I didn't hear it at first, not until winamp shuffled to a Melvins song. I would never play a Melvins album with anything less than a D7000 to lend gravity to the sludge sound. The K701 was supposed to be etched, shy, resolving the details but not really caring about the necessary bombast. However, with the WA22 on hi and turned to about 1 o'clock, the nature of the music changed to a closer, focused, middle-of-the-head soundstage, and the bass impact fit in its proper place. Finally. (Maybe the issue was impedance matching all along)

So, at 0 gain source, I listen within and couple of hours from midnight.
