Sony D-ES51 my mom had it for a while but no longer uses it... i've been using it for less than a month
before that Panasonic SL-SX270 still works (perfectly) had it since December 26th 2000 and since then it's been dropped onto concrete and flipped into a full mop bucket (it actually worked better after going for a swim)
and before that... some generic PCDP which i had for a year before it's motor completely failed...
I had a 3G 15GB iPod for about 6 months. I sold it to buy a guitar. I love the guitar much more than the iPod, but I still want to buy another pod. I'll see how the 5G pods or 2G minis are.
I've had my iPod for a few months now. It drove me crazy for the first couple weeks. I had to get familiar with working the device since it's very simple and I wanted to be technical about everything. It took a little while to stop thinking about how to make it do something and just trying what made sense. Learning about digital audio formats took a little patience too.
That being said, I love the thing now. People at work used to laugh because I'd carry in armfulls of CDs every day. Now I have about 300 CDs worth of music on my iPod and a lot less junk on my desk!
I had a 3G 10 gig ipod for 1 and half years but it was coming to the end of its life. The battery was dying within an hour or I would turn it off then it would not have enough power to re boot itself.
Now I am the proud owner of a 4G 40 gig I have had it for 1 week and half and I am very pleased, I can fit my entire library of music on this one - Just !!
I have my 3G 20GB iPod for about 13 months now, and I am not going to replace it before there is a non-photo (=cheaper) 60GB unit, although I might be very tempted by a 80GB one, even if it meant paying extra for the color screen. The library currently counts 148GB, and being able to lug half of it around would be neat. My 1G iPod is still around and has a nice place on my shelf. I rarely use it since it cannot play ALAC, but I'll keep it because it's such a beauty. Sometimes it comes handy for a backup though.
I've had my 3G 20G for 7 Months now, it was a great replacement for my N10, and E720 minidisc players, It's unbelievable how good the Ipod is, for it's small size.
I've had a Jazpiper Mp3 (32mb) player for about two years. A good player (or at least is what I remember of it), but crappy equalizer and small ultra low resolution display. No frills, just a play button and a couple of headphones.
Now I own a Zen touch. I bought it one month ago. Again a no frill machine but much better quality. AC adapter and headphones are a little cheap.
Spent 1.5 years with a SlimX, it served it's purpose well and is still being enjoyed by a friend who contributed to my next purchase. I've been using a Nomad Zen 2.0 USB for about 2 years now, except for a slowly diminishing battery capacity it runs as well as it did when I got it.
Soon, I think I shall upgrade again to something smaller but with the same capacity. Perhaps another IRiver or Rio, never an Ipod tho'.
