How is everyone connecting their Computer to their DAC?

MacBook Pro>iTunes>Pure Music>USB>Schiit Gungnir.  I used to use a mini optical cable, but my MacBook Pro tops off at 24/96 via this method, and I have some 24/192 content I want to listen to.

MacBook >JRiver >optical  & USB >Schiit Bifrost Uber/Gen2,  primarily use optical.
