Try to get info of Electrical and Optical Characteristics of the fiber optic transmitting module found in TBAAM (and check also the circuit they've used) and then compare against others.

its pretty hard to find that.

I can't comment on the quality but it will not do a bitperfect transfer since it resamples to 48kHz over SPDIF too:
