ay yous

I know active speakers have amps built into them and the amps are quite capable of driving the speaker drivers. But i notice some have a headphone jack in the front. So do these amps deliver good performance for headphone listening purposes?

cd player > speaker/amp > headphone.

The specific ones im looking at are the M-audio line of studio monitors like the dx4 and av40's etc.

edit* woops, i meant to post this in the other speaker forum, not the B/S/T one

Some can be great for driving the speakers they are made for (Quad are pretty nice for example), but the headphone side is usually rubbish. The headphone amp is usually a different amp to that used for the speakers.
