I've had my Sennheiser HD580's for about two years, and in that time I've had to replace the headphone wires four times, and im about to have to do it again for a third time.

What happens is, somehow magically, one of the sides of the cord that either connects to the right earcup whatever its called or left (seems to have happened to the left mostly i think..) becomes very sensitive and if it moves at all the sound counts out /and gets fuzzy. It's extremely annoying because I cant move my head without it cutting in and out 3 times.

How does this constantly happen? Is this some sort of known problem? It wouldnt be so bad is the unreliable cable was so expensive. It use to be around 25 bucks, but now it seems to have dropped to 17 (oh yippee!!!)

I could bought much better headphones for the price of these + all the cords ive had to buy for them =/ .

Anyways, I've looked up this problem and according to some people the oehlbach cable solved their problems. Anybody know where I can order this from? I live in the U.S.

Blah. I heard some bad things about the cable. Would it be better then the stock in almost every (important) way?

I've been toying with the idea of getting the hd595, because they seem they have a different cable type and probably wont have the problem I'm having.

How does the hd595 compare to the hd580 and hd600?

I've always loved the hd-580's sound. I don't know much about audio so its kind of hard to explain, but the sound from these sound very open and they make it easy for me to tell what direction sound is coming from (I use these for gaming).

For gaming+music, which are better of the 3? What's probably the best overall?

Any advice would be appreciated

A mate has 5xx range (535) and the connector is intermitternt too. Great design in theory, get it caught and it won't knacker the phones but pop out...but after a while the extra connection causes problems.

There must be a way of getting a superior locking mech, which'll break off if tugged hard, but still offer reliable contact after prolonged time.

I mean annoying you have to replace the connector ends on the cable every so often..
