ive heard a lot of praise directed at the marantz cd5001 as a great budget audiophile cd player. ive heard it has a slightly warmer tonal quality? can anyone comment in terms of SQ and just general quality on how the cc4001 compares to the cd5001? they look pretty similar, is the cc4001 just a 5 cd version of it...or is the cd5001 a better player?

Why not take your headphone rig to a Marantz dealer and find out for yourself?

quick called yielded the result that they dont stock cd players, just dvd players. bummer! i know lots of ppl have heard the cd5001 and i believe it is regarded as quite a decent player, i cant believe no one can comment on the cc4001 5 disc version though! for only 30 dollars more (according to marantz) one must assume the player itself is INFERIOR to the cd5001 player no?

Oh well, it was a long shot. As a last resort, you can try emailing Marantz Canada directly to see if they can locate a dealer that stocks the CD5001 and CC4001.

I don't think you should infer that the carousel is inferior sound-wise at all. However, reliability may be another issue.

Bump. Or how about cc4001 vs cd5003? Or just some cc4001 impressions? I'm thinking of getting it refurbished for about $150.

Everything that I have bought from Marantz has been really nice-sounding.
Choose which one you want, find the best price, and go for it.
I don't think you will go wrong with any of them.

However, if *I* was choosing one of the named units, I would go for the CD5003.
