If properly amped how do these two compare? Both are said to have strong bass; does one do bass better than the other? Also, how about the mids, highs, instrument separation, detail etc? Any types of music that either of these two don't do well at?

Have the d5000 currently but thinking of going with Beyers and a tube amp. Anyone have experience with both?

From what I've read the DT990 is very similar to the DT880's
The DT990 just has more bass.
