I have a 500 track compilation with 200+ artists. I use my DAP by Artist and i would rather not have this enormous listing of artists that only have one or two songs on the drive.

is there a good way to tag a compilation like this that anyone could share?

Thanks.

For compilations (albeit not ones that are QUITE so enormous) I tend to just cheat and use the name of the compilation as the artist. Then within the track name I put the artist after the song title.

Clunky it may be (a bit), but it's the way that seems most sensible to me.

Well in iTunes you could recopy all the tracks, set them as an album instead of a playlist, and mark the album as a compilation. You'd have two copies of the songs, but it would make it neater on your iPod.

You should be able to do the equivalent of that in WiMP. I'm not exactly sure how, but it should work, it'll just be a different set of commands.

HEY!

I did it.

I retagged with track# - Artist - album in the file name and left the Artist column empty.

Thanks all.

Yay for me!
