Well guys, tinnitus is a Latin word, and this is the way the great orator Cicero would have pronounced it: "tin-nee-tus". The other form "tin-nye-tus" is a later anglicised adaptation, which I assume to be okay, however not genuine.

As a matter of fact, both are correct. Since, Americans changed every 'ee' sound to their own liking and called it American English.

My ENT pronounced it TIN-it-tus. My ortho pronounced it ti-NIGHT-us...because it was in my elbow. These are two different diseases hence the different pronunciations. Either way, get checked out by a good Otolaryngologist who specializes in hearing
