My new hd555 is great but im always searching for improvements.Have seen many people here say they switch out new cords for old on headphones.Where do you buy these cords and how do you remove old and install it on sennheiser hd555?does it make that much of sonic difference.Im a newbie when it comes to mods and dont want to cut or damage my phones but it would be nice to get a shorter version(around 6ft) of my 10 ft hd555cord.

The HD555 and 595's are alot harder to rewire than the HD580/600/650 series as well as the other Sennheiser models which have a cable on each cup that you can pull off...

With the 555's you'll have to open the casing up, and desolder the wires from the circuit board, and if you're going for the max performance of your recabling you'll have to run the wire through the headband to the other cup.

If you can buy a cable with the right adaptor you can just follow these directions, but I don't know where to buy the replacement cables myself.
