On all other forums, if I post or start a new thread, it gets marked as subscribed. If there is a new post after mine, its gets put back onto my recent list. If I want to go back, I can look at my entire history subscriptions by clicking view all subscriptions. Is this feature available without manually adding to your subscription list?

It is a lot easier for posters like me who wake up and post then go to work/school. Once back at home, you log on, go to user cp and check if there was any activity. This is really helpful when browsing large forums like here, hardforums, canon forums etc. Clicking new posts brings a search of all new posts that weren't viewed yet, far too broad IMO.

That exactly how thing work for me.

In your UserCP, Option, Default subscription, is it Instant Email?

If so you might have a weird problem with your account, unless there is some other setting that I forgot. Some people keep having problem with subscription after the crash but I since I have none I haven't been following it.

Hmm let me try going back to settings. It seems default on the forums goes to do not subscribe.

*edit: got it to work! I set it to no email notification. thanks
