I use my laptop to browse headfi and surf the net. I occasionally watch DVD's on it. But it is region locked. How do I disable it permanently. Is there some kind of program or something which I could use or is it not possible. Any help would be appreciated on this.

My laptop is a Fujitsu lifebook E7010
the dvd-rom drive is a toshiba dvd rom sd-r2212

firmware updates.

I dont have the link but you have to find the right firmware for your drive hardware, update it and you will be good to go.

Mind you - mess up and you can REALLY get screwed...I have burnt up a DVD writer drive with the wrong firmware...yeah...not fun

There are programs which will change the region code that the apps see which will let you watch dvd's for other regions than the DVD is set to.

I'll check out at home tonight to see if I still have the name of the program.
