i have a set of beyerdynamic DT770 pros that i absolutely love and had for over 3 years.

this morning they were plugged into my laptop and i stepped on the cord. The cord got yanked out of the plug thingy (forgive me, i dont know the proper vocab).

i dont know what to do. do i need to buy a new wire? can i reattach them?

i took the black covering off the plug and the wires look like they are embedded in this white plastic attached to the golden plug. and the wire is actually 3 different colored wires mushed together.

i cant live without my headphones

You can get a new plug, cut the last bit of the cable so you have a clean end. Strip the wire so that you they fit the new plug and solder the new plug on. Or have someone else do it for you if you don't have the skills, of confidence to do it. Maybe post a pic of the situation, my guess is the plug is on its way the great soundstage in the sky.... factory build plugs are usualy molded.
