My setup doesn't do it. At all. In fact, it sounds quite, horrible. Again, perhaps I'm not used to this sound. But, headphone wise, are there any cans that do it a bit more... analytically, yet... soothingly? Or am I getting the Jimi Hendrix Experience?

All of the Hendrix material I've acquired over the years sounds pretty bad (acoustically) on all of my setups. There's not really much you can do.

Hendrix was aggressive, that's for sure.

Ya, what are you going for? He certainly was not soothing player, and recordings are so friggin' old there is no hope for them. Best you can do is enjoy the music.

Well, that being true, you probably want a warmer, darker headphone so you don't suffer too much. MS1 is nice, but for what you are doing you probably want more mids and less treble...say ath-esw9 or something of a similar sound.

First you need to get unbelieveably high and then take it from there...

*sorry that wasnt all that serious...

"The Jimi Hendrix Experience" 4CD Box of live grooves is good production. The re-masters of the Family Archives three studio CD's ain't to shabby.

Are you listening to Hendrix on Gary's lil' Amp?

Yeah, the problem is the Experience is extremely bright. GEEZ. I really need a set of cans to mellow this [mess] out. Ideas?

PA2V2 indeed. After hearing the sonic differences on my source/amp between 770/MS-1, all I'm looking for is a more mellow [yet analytical] set of headphones first and foremost for music like Radiohead and Hendrix.

That man's music is really overrated... He might have been revolutionary at his time, but he's dated by today's standards. The only way you can 'experience' Hendrix is through the words of his fanboys and not by listening to it yourself.

I've never listened to Hendrix before today. I don't consider myself a fan of hard rock or anything like Led Zeppelin and that particular genre. His cover of All Along The Watchtower by Bob Dylan is brilliant and I'm going to give some of his other music a few listens to see how good he is. There is nothing dated about the amazing instrumentation used in that song, as well as the benefits of an amazing lyricist like Bob Dylan
