This is driving me NUTS. All I use is Ephpod--I don't want iTunes to start up, ever. I cannot figure out how to disable it from booting (which takes an hour) when I hook up my iPod. I want my computer to do *nothing* except recognize the iPod when I hook it up. Any ideas?

I've never installed iTunes. It's such crap.

Connect your iPod to the computer. Go to Edit and select Preferences from the menu. Under the iPod tab, there's another sub-tab called General--in that tab, uncheck the box that says, "Open iTunes when iPod is attached."

Once you do that, connecting the iPod will not start iTunes.

I have the same setting, because having iTunes resync (regenerate!) all those 2000+ pictures is just too painful
