I dislike everything about my DT177x so I'm looking for something that sounds different, if not better. Would the HD600 fit that role?

They look very different -- less bass and an 8k peak (treble presence/bite) for the Beyers. What exactly about the DT177x annoys you?

If you want different but still comfortable, the Hifiman he5xx is worth checking out. I use one for a daily driver and the dt177x is ok but not as fun as these. The 600 is flat as a pancake for frequency response. Even the Beyerdynamic MMX300 is as easy to drive but more fun with silver dt770 pads. The Hifiman leaks sound like bookshelf speakers though...
