How did you know when you reached your endgame?

I have been wanting a means to play the multi-channel layer on my hybrid SACDs, so, perhaps, it was that desire which had kept me from being totally satisfied. Now having purchased an OPPO UDP-205 for multi-channel pleasure, I would like to say I'm finally satisfied; but, the other day, while using the player's DAC to enjoy some DOO WOP music in my iTunes Library, I heard such detail not heard before that I realized the recording studio's that produced these recordings way back then must have been pretty primitive, in that, with my new equipment, I could hear all sorts of defects that my earlier equipment could not reveal. What a problem, I have a really nice DAC now which I though would make the music richer only to discover it can also make poorly recorded music sound worse.

This just happened to me. I swapped one pair of interconnect and now I'm hearing instruments in the background clearer that I didn't notice before. The interconnect is cheaper and not well known.

That's great to hear and actually at our HQ, we have encountered similar experiences too. Small things make a massive difference.

I must be at endgame. Massdrop has a Cavalli Tube Hybrid amp and I didn’t even check the details.

If Massdrop announcement does not tickle you then that's brilliant! You might have reached the end of the road indeed.

"Endgame" is a problem. It keeps running away from me. I've got it few times in the past but it ran away and I have to keep chasing it ...

A BHSE, carbon or megatron with a modded 007 a 009, or maybe a voce. Could be options to, it's a different presentation, all are much smoother imo, than the utopia and may be more to some peoples liking.

Since HE-6 makes me feel happy enough, i think i have reached "endgame". All i need now is a travel/sport headphone, something like hd-25/amperior, just because this headphone hobby made me addicted to music; but the search for "better misterious sound" gone, and i am pretty sure that the quality level of HE-6 is impossible in any travel headphone.

Ok, let’s put it this way. The “endgame” is like “wife”, how do you know you have reached your “wife” ? I guess, after marriage, we are bound by laws. I think the best way to not slipping away your “endgame” is to officially and lawfully marry it ? Lol. Just kidding

Man you really got me thinking too much about this ha. Nothing beats having a can that you love unconditionally, with the added feeling of being able to leave any time you want! Nothing is making you be with it other then the intoxicating tunes it produces. I felt this way for the HD800 the other day ha.

If something can make me laugh out loud while listening then I know that I am fully engulfed. I love experiencing that more then anything. That's an end game feeling for me.

I've been very happy with my current setup for the last 6 months, so I think I'm close to endgame.

I could upgrade my amp, however. And I would like to try different headphones to see if there's something better out there...

On second thought I think I'm miles away.
