How comfortable are the ER-4P's?

well put, plainsong. if you compare what the Ety's are capable of on a good setup to what portables make of them, you could easily say that portables are an overkill.
however, with a good portable, they do worth the price, especially for used.

...Such as an iPod, hopefully? One of the most expensive out there, anyway.

If I buy a new pair, will they be braided wire models?

Awesome. Thanks again for your help, guys.

I just ordered some from www.earplugstore.com - they have a 30-day full refund policy with no restocking fee, so if I don't like them, I can just return them and only pay shipping.

I paid $205 plus shipping for the full retail kit. Not a bad deal, huh?

i've tried a number of different tips for my etys. i like the shure yellow foamies as they are smaller than the ety foamies...but they last like one week before they need to be retired. i have small ear canals and the best fit so far has been the shure soft flex tips size small, the ones that come with the e3c. good luck with your etys...i hope you love them as much as i do!

took me all of 5 days to get used to them. i use foams though. ymmv.

but they really do disappear in your ears once you get used to them.

Sort of relevant question:
How does the ety look? would you get weird looks in the street? I know it sounds shallow, but the better looks of the E5 may help push me over to that side. I'm used to the feeling of listening to music extremely discretely with the E2's.
The biggest help would be if someone had a front profile with these babies in.
Thanks

The microphonics are lessened but not eliminated. They don't bother me any but I have seen some folks post that they have a lot of difficulty listening to them even with the braided cord.

I don't think they'd be visible excepting their cords so I really don't think their looks are a big issue...
