I'm going to upgrade from HD 598  to HD800S. Now will i be amazed of the sound quality difference?

Going to use the HD800S with the upcoming HDVD 820 (probably), with included balanced cable.  Going to feed the music through USB cable from my laptop. (For the source there is some room for improvement?)

What i like about current 598 is the wide open soundstage. Comparing the 598 and 800 how big of improvement is it going to be?

It's totally subjective so your mileage on this is impossible to predict. I would say and i think most would agree it's a big step up. No idea how good the dac is going to be in the 820. I thought it has been upgraded since the 800. The dac in the 800 being probably weaker than the amp stage, and my assumption in that is with the hd800 as the hdvd has not shown to be a great match with other cans. Not surprising since it was made to complement those cans.

Not really intrested on other cans tbh.

What i'm also intrested to know is there any specific reason to choose USB 2.0 over USB 3.0 vice versa in audioworld?

Cause i have to choose what usb i would use, options are this:
Clicktronic USB 3.0 A/B
QED Perfomance USB 2.0 USB A/B

The price is identical, really the question is should i go with USB 2.0 just cause of the compatibility? (HDVD 800 supports USB 2.0, would guess that 820 would too)

It's also a big leap going from HD 598 to HD600/HD650.

The HD600 seems to be the best all rounder. But it's lack of sub-bass can make the sound feel incomplete. The lack of sub-bass also makes the mids clean, vocals with the HD600 sound very good.
The HD650 has a tight sound, and mid bass. I modded my HD650 and it sounds way better I preferred my HD650 over the HD800's at canjam.
The HD800 has a lot quality treble and one of the biggest soundstage in an headphone. The treble can take a while to get used to. It needs to be modded, every HD800 owner does it eventually.
The HD800s is what sennheiser did to the HD800 to achieve what a modded HD800 sounds like.

Yes it might be a big leap to go with HD600 or 650 from 598. But given the fact that i have to buy dac/amp combo with that and the fact that i would always think "how would this sound with HD800's". Its no brainer to me to go with the top-tier at once.

However, the question still remains:

Is there any reason to choose USB A to B 2.0 over 3.0?  or vice versa?
