I am intrested in a pair of Grados over the summer, but I would like to not spend as much as the 325's cost. But if the jump is worth it, i will.

and whats the difference between the 125's and 225's??? i heard some 125's today and they sounded quite good, just powered by my discman.

Keep in mind the Alessandro MS1's if money is a concern. Some think they're similar to a 125, some think they're a boosted 80. Do a search and see comments discussing this variation on the Grado Sound.

i own a pair of 325's. my friend just came over with his 225's and we compared them. perhaps it's not 'how big of a jump' but 'how different' they sound.

maybe i'm crazy, but i think the 225's have better seperation and are more laid back. the 325's are more aggressive, bring the sound closer, and the bigger aluminum chamber makes for a bigger sound. sadly, i think i prefer the 225's. i think the 325's, for a lot of music, are too agressive.

I own both the SR-225's and the SR-325's, and though I found slight differences between the two in terms of presentation, I currently find that the SR-325's are not as big of a jump from the SR-225's as a lot of Head-Fiers had made them out to be (but still a meaningful improvement nonetheless).

I have owned all the grados with the exception of the 325, including the older sr100/ 200 and the hp-1. MY FAVORITES are the sr-225 and the rs-1.The older sr200 and hp-1 are wonderful sounding but they just dont fit my head comfotably. There is, however, something about the 225s balance that I just enjoy. They do seem to have the most laid back upper midrange of the current grados, and consequently seem to fatigue my ears less during long listening sessions, even factoring in the forward signature of all grado headphones. Even though I had all those other expensive and highly regarded headphones, I always found myself listening to the 225s. As for the 325s, they are the only grado I havent enjoyed, they were just to aggressive for me even for during short trials,and they were well broken in.
