Check out this page and remember that Video RCA in the same as digital coax (music), one of their isolation transformers should work for you (no new DAC needed.)

Thanks for that. However, I sold my DAC about a week or so ago on a totally unrelated note of upgradeitis, and had nothing to do with the ground loop issue. It's just fortunate that you informed me transformers on the input can eliminate ground loop, and the two DACs I was considering in the first place (Chameleon vs DAC19MK3) coincidentally both have them, I think.

do NOT defeat the mains ground. is your structure and life worth this? "maybe" nothing will ever happen. maybe it will. are you a big gambler? very, very bad idea!

as others said just get a toroid or ferrite transformer based solution. other wise lift the ground on the AUDIO cables. that is fine to do.

conduit, properly called electro-metalic tubing is a perfectly acceptable method of grounding per the national electrical code of the united states. homes that still have "knob and tube" sytems need to be updated. they are very unsafe. also in the 70's aluminum wire was used which must also be replaced. i could go on for pages about electrical contracting but i will spare you. too many people make real dumb choices with electricity. simply because it is so easy to do. don't even ask about patrick82, it is some miracle of the lord he has not been electricuted or burned yet. do not follow his examples please!

Could not agree more,if people knew how many house fires were caused by old faulty wiring they would not be so smug.Maybe in the States where you have 120V you feel safer, but here and other countries with 230v a home without proper grounding is a Death Trap.

please trust me 120vac will light you up right(or your dwelling)! improper/lack of safety "earth" ground is just a precursor to disaster. people "feel" safe with electricity because they are generally unaware of it's dangers. or "intimate" with it. maybe, indeed in 230v countires people are more aware of it. of course shuko makes things a little better for you guys. i have no knowledge of this however since i don't live there. even though i work as a recording engineer i hold a master electrician license as well. i enjoy to educate people on this everywhere i go. even if they are not receptive.

i have seen many people contacting 120vac barefoot on solid ground soaking wet! now that is is as lousy an idea as you can possibly think of. i sometimes have attended(let's just say church) for a poor individual that did so. short of that of course there are simply a virtual bevy of things you can do wrong with power. people just are not educated about this. the utility has taken steps to educate people but no one even listens for the msot part!

i sometimes do a demonstration where i fry a potato. that helps get peoples attention.

once again, to mention our old friend "tuberoller" who is the amazing combination of an electrician "and" a firefighter would probably know about the consequences of playing with power better than anyone!

the path to ground is of utmost importance and your best friend when it comes to electric utility! please do not try to defeat your friend! maybe i sound harsh about this but please just trust me.
